This is a song about a mother and her "lil one" My second collaboration with Tom Moore, his songs do inspire! An honour to write and sing for you Tom!
This song was written by Tom Moore. I wrote the words and the vocal lines, there's a story here, but it's mainly about questions children ask and the difficulty sometimes for adults to respond, even understand. Especially the things that we ourselves don't understand.
I rememebr a cloudy day,
the rain just wouldn't come.
We sat on the front porch step,
just me and my lil one.
The wind was up and the breeze was cool,
the linens danced on the line.
She smiled and stared at the sky,
then her eyes looked into mine
her blue-green eyes searched mine.
Why can't the sun shine down,
it would be so pretty then, she said.
Why can't the garden come inside.
Why do the birds leave us when winter comes
don't they get tired while they fly
so many questions, so few things I can say
there's so much confusion now
when Daddy comes our way
there's so much confusion now
and Daddy goes away
So I look into her eyes
and take her hand in mine
Babe, I don't have all the answers
but maybe in time,
we'll find our peace of mind
and then she said to me
but Mama, aren't you scared
I feel a little lost
and nothing here seems fair.
All that I could do
was hold her close then
don't you worry, baby,
we will find our way again.
