she says she lost her thrill for other men but she keeps trying on me. she asks about the places i've been and all the people i've seen so i'm acting like an immigrant, yeah, no hablo ingles. before she figures out where i went, i'm gonna be gone on my way. she knows how to buy and sell to keep the ends where they meet and when her dignity stopped selling so well she started begging on her knees like a dog at the breakfast table asking for a scrap of grace. i would help you if i were able but i must be on my way. she thinks she'll live off of her art and maybe win a little fame but how the hell can you keep your heart when it becomes public domain? and how can it keep on beating when its in a display case? she'll see what she was really needing once i'm long gone on my way. she says she's got to exercise before her figure goes maybe getting a nice dress size will keep me off of the road she says she believes in fasting but i've never seen her pray. (its alright) a mirror will keep her looking past me so i can get going on my way and i might look a little out of shape but i guess that's what i am and if i sound a little out of breath i guess that's cause i ran. but maybe i'll see you on the way she says she doesn't need my kiss and she's happy just to look. she swears the thing that she'll really miss are the scribbles in my book, this time i think i agree with you i don't want your lips on my face. so go ahead and look for a minute or two before i head out on my way. and i might sound a little cynical but its just hard for me to hide it all comes up to the surface nothing ever stays inside but maybe i'll see you on the way.
