40's style pop!!
This wonderful lyric by Debra Foster was a joy to work with. We decided to do it 1940's style, and I even added an "old time radio" effect to the piano for the opening. This was a fun song to do.
"SENIOR MOMENTS"
(Lyrics by Debra Foster/ Music by Ron Gletherow)
VERSE 1
He lays her pills beside her juice
The ones that she's been taking for 15 years
Sometimes she can't remember him at all
And other times she's thinking pretty clear
With three score gone
They still carry on
And they wouldn't miss
Senior moments like this
VERSE 2
A love that's spanned thru 11 presidents
And dances with Sammy Kaye
Sid Ceasar always made them laugh
They still see him to this very day
Saw the end to world war two
And now they've made it to
A point they insist
Is the very best
With senior moments like this
BRIDGE 1
He combs her silver hair because her hands
Can't do it anymore
Takes her to church so she can sing
And talk to the Lord
Three rows down from Brother Bill
They'd been sitting there 60 years
Still so much love exists
In senior moments like this
BRIDGE 2
He lets the sun in before she wakes
So she will have a brighter day
She's still his everything and more
With every passing day
VERSE 3
He reads the morning paper to her
While she's rocking in her chair
He’ll miss a word or two
But she won't even care
After all these years
She can read between the lines
They are proud to exist
In senior moments like this
