Story behind the song
This piece was written for and about my friend Sam Spady who passed away in 2004 (http://www.samspadyfoundation.org/). There are 3 sort of non-distinct sections.. section 1 represents how I knew her, section 2 is a sort of reflection on the night she died, and section 3 is a final good bye. Writing it and hearing it performed so wonderfully by the Concert Jazz Orchestra at Berklee was an extremely cathartic and moving experience.
