A very personal song about living with fear in London ... but one that also relates to the bigger picture of those killed in the London bombings, the 25,000 killed in Iraq, and Jean Charles de Menezes - killed by plain clothed police at London's Stockwell tube in a tragic sequence of misunderstandings. I don't have any answers - just a wish for it to stop.
They say it’s better
To die on your feet
Than live on your knees
It’s a human right
To die with dignity
Innocent people
Whose only crime
To be the wrong place
At the wrong time
It seems so futile
This spilling of blood
To get what we need
Politicians talk
But still the people bleed
I wouldn’t fear death
If I had time to say my goodbyes
On my own terms
If I must die
Let me choose the moment
Or something I believe in
And not the whim of another
If I must die
Let me choose the moment
Let me die with reason
And not the whim of another
