"Because, I am worthy... I deserve to be happy"
Progressive Alternative Country Rock from Deep in the Heart of Texas.
is a place where the sign reads, "No Boots Required".
Story behind the song
I was riding shotgun while traveling on the Bluegrass Highway. Alie and I were headed back to Texas from visting family/ friends in Ohio. We'd just pulled out of Lexington, KY. in the midst of a mid to heavy down pour. I had the music in my head and started jotting down lyrics. As I put away my pen and pad the sky opened with a ray of light shined through.
Lyrics
SOONER THAN LATER
Good-bye grey skies, it's long past due
I never thought I'd look forward, to shakin' you
Humble pie's left me empty, stavin' for what's true
It's all I've known since she'd gone; it'll be 3 years come June
I didn't have it in me, when she walked out that door
Now I can smile even while, I thought I could not smile anymore
-Chorus-
(Sooner Than Later) I've begun to believe
The 1st step towards recovery, from the broken soul she left me
(Sooner Than Later) blue skies are all I see
Because I am worthy, I deserve to be happy
(Sooner Than Later) I'll be 100% me
-Interlude-
'Cause I deserve to be happy...
I thought we'd be forever, so I've been stuck here in the past
I never saw it comin’; June took over my life so fast
I didn't have it in me, when she walked out that door
I've excused myself so I May, now June's just a month anymore!
-Chorus-
(Sooner That Later) I've begun to believe
The 1st step towards recovery, from the broken soul she left me
(Sooner Than Later) blue skies are all I see
Because I am worthy, I deserve to be happy
(Sooner Than Later) I'll be 100% me!!!
(Sooner Than Later) and blue skies are all I see
(Sooner Than Later) because I am worthy
(Sooner Than Later) I'll be 100% me
(Sooner Than Later)........
