Back to Rose
Two days into a three day ride
My suitcase full of borrowed time
I’ve been driving through
A thousand miles of rain
There’s a melody that’s on my mind
It’s a memory of a time gone by
I’ve been driving hard
Trying to make some kind of change
Seems I’ve spent my whole life
Chasing ghosts
And it always leaves me running
Down the road
Back to Rose
I finally cross that Florida line
The sun is shining in the sky
Still I’m standing in the shadow
Of my doubt
I’ve either lost or left behind
The things that matter most in life
And I only know
That this road keeps going south
You see I’ve spent my whole life
In the cold
And I always end up running
Down the road
Back to Rose
Rose she always said that she’d be waiting
Tending her garden in the sun
But out here on this highway
My heart’s breaking
From living a lifetime on the run
So after all the miles and years
After all the smiles and tears
Seems everything begins to look the same
With just this song to call my own
Spending all my time alone
Well I guess I’ve got
No one else to blame
You see I’ve spent my whole life
Chasing ghosts
And it’s always left me running
Down the road
Back to Rose
Seems I’ve spent my whole life
Chasing ghosts
And I’m still running down the road
Back to Rose
