The St Josephs Institution Military Bands main focus is on music and to lead it, is the SJIMBs music director, Mr Lester Lim Chong Choon. He led the SJIMB to achieve a Gold Award at the 1999 Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Central Judging after a 15-year hiatus. At the 2001 and 2003 SYF Central Judging, the SJIMB was awarded a Silver Award.
