Story behind the song
A song about betrayal. The idea is the protagonist finds out that there’s a third person in his relationship – he finds out by reading a diary or an Email – hence a few literary allusions. I need to re-do the vocals!
Lyrics
There’s a Butcher and a Baker They’re going to put this world to rights So says the Old Narrator Of a twisted storyline Its hardly rocket science If I could not read the signs You put it all so beautifully You spell it out for me Present tense Future imperfect Stop it now You’re making me nervous I hope he was worth it Just turn the page You’re word perfect This romantic fiction Isn’t doing it for me Airport novel erudition Of our unholy trilogy Its hardly brain science The product of our strange alliance I don’t read between the lines You’re going to have to spell it out for me Present tense Future imperfect Stop it now My sides are hurting At your higher purpose Just turn the page You’re word perfect Just tell me it was worth it
