A wonderful ballad based on the teaching of Jesus, that if we as parents will bless our own children and give them what they ask, will not our own heavenly Father at least do the same?
The first verse of this song was inspired and sung spontaneously during one of our Sunday morning services. The other verses were composed that same day during the Sunday evening prayer meeting. It is a wonderful ballad based on the teaching of Jesus, that if we as parents will bless our own children and give them what they ask, will not our own heavenly Father at least do the same?

If a son asked a father for a fish
Would a father give him a snake?
If a son asked a father for some bread
Would a father give him a stone?
Or would a father give his son some bread?
Would he give him a snake or a fish instead?
If a son asked a father
If a son asked a father to help him
Would a father ignore his cry?
If a song asked a father for mercy
Would a father leave him to die?
Or would a father heed the voice of his son?
Would a father leave or would a father come?
If a son asked a father
If a son asked a father to forgive him
Would a father refuse his son?
If a son asked a father to restore him
Would a father reject his son?
Or would a father offer his outstretched arm?
And cry on his shoulder for the love that was won?
If a son asked a father
If a son prayed a prayer to a father
And pleaded the blood of the Lamb
If a knock on the door was in the name of the Lord
Would You ignore this man?
Or would all heaven stand becasue a knee did bend?
In the name of Jesus on the lips of the redeemed
And would a blood bought prayer be answered here?
If a son asked a Father
