An awakening . . . lyrics by David Z. Moronez - kinda pop-py, kinda folksy.
David posted on a lyric board for critique - and I was struck with it's simplicity and how this "poem" sang to me. He agreed to let me put it to music . . . this is the "still working on it" resulting worktape. ;)
You and Me

We’ve traveled many miles
Gone through many years
At times our hearts saw trials
Our one comfort; tears
We held onto our dreams
‘Til they’d fade away
Nothing was what it seemed
Not in any way
(CHORUS)
A rose was found growing
In a place once desolate and cold
Our hearts began melting
Beauty began to take hold
We discovered
What we only hoped to see
We turned friends, then lovers
As love took hold of You and Me
Took hold of You and Me
Gave our hearts to others
Who took them away
Tried hard to discover
Is love to be this way?
Loneliness is our friend
Hope became our past
Love never stretched out a hand
Dreams would never last
(BRIDGE)
Then one day the sun shined
Rainbows painted the sky
We were pleased to find
Life’s truth in place of lies
In place of lies
(CHORUS)
