Music and vocals by Steve Tarak
Steve listened to another song in which I mentioned Northern Michigan. He emailed me to inform me that he had spent some quality time there, very close to where I live now. In subsequent emails I sent him the words to "LIFE IN NORTHERN MICHIGAN" and he composed the music and vocals. Here, for your enjoyment, is the product of that association.
LIFE IN NORTHERN MICHIGAN
Every new day holds it's own surprise,
All you have to do is open up your eyes,
Looks like I'm gettin' my wish again,
When I wake up in the mornin', in Northern Michigan,
From the sandy beaches all along her shore,
To the woodlands there-calling you to explore,
Well looky here I found my niche again,
I just naturally belong in Northern Michigan,
(chorus)
Now I don't need a solitary dime,
No one tells me how to spend my time,
The privilage is all mine, I'm feelin' rich again,
Living the life I love, in Northern Michigan,
When the big lake beckons to ya,
You can't resist the call of Michi-Guma,
You'll be out there after those big fish again,
'Cause that's the way of life, in Northern Michigan,
(repeat chorus)
(bridge)
My heart is filled with joy again,
You know, I feel just like a little boy again,
Doin' what-so-ever I wish again,
Outta my way, I've got that itch again,...for some...
Motor boatin' or maybe water skiing,
An uncomplicated state of being,
Oh-They're servin' up my favorite dish again,
Whitefish and perch, in Northern Michigan,
(repeat chorus)
Living the life I love,
Thankin' The Lord above,
Livin' the life I love,
In Northern Michigan,
