Yet another rough 'n' ready live recording. This is an oft times opener for Finnegan's Wake. A great little fast number which always gets the audience hopping.

The Queen Charlotte was a pirate ship in the 17th century which was remarkable not only in that its captain was a woman but also that it was among the first to fly the Jolly Roger as it then was - the joulie rougier (the red flag).
The Queen Charlotte
The Charlotte’s calling me again
To fight for morning star
For for my livelihood and liberty
And life on foreign soil
So darlin’ I must leave you now
Though this may be my home
The Charlotte’s where the honour lies
That ship will be my tomb
So lead me boys to the glory and the gold
Lead me boys to the sea
Lead me boys to the red dawn that I love
Take me where my spirit longs to be
Chorus
And farewell to thee
My own true love
Swear it’s only me
You’ll be thinking of
For I may be away
For ten years or ten days
But I swear that I’ll see you again
See you again.
Although I’ve worked here every day
Slept every blessed night
You know I’d never felt at home
Or lived a normal life
So though you’re such a pretty girl
And we’re very seldom vertical
You’re seeing someone nautical
The sea must be my wife
So drink up boys we don’t want to miss the morning tide
Drink up boys, never fear
Drink up boys, for the courage never failed us yet
We’ll take our sorrows far away from here.
CHORUS
