Song of joy expressing the good news of Jesus' resurrection
This song wants to convey the joy Mary and the rest of Jesus's believers must have felt when they not only heard, but realized that what Jesus had said had come to pass. He was to rise again. He died but He was alive again. He had been with them for so long and had loved them deeply. He had raised Lazarus from the death. The Bible tells us that He wept and was deeply disturbed to see the state of agony of Lazarus' sisters. He told them: 'I AM the resurrection'.
Mary Magdalene's Song
Down at the site where they have laid Him
there stood a man who spoke to me
"Why do you cry, who do you seek
He is not here, for now He lives again"
Chorus
Halleluya! I have seen the Lord
Halleluya! and He spoke to me
Halleluya! He's alive again
He is my risen Lord
He is my closest friend.
Now I recall how He had told us
He is the Life and the Resurrection
He is the Christ and those who trust
in all he said would see the glory of God.
Chorus repeat
For he raised my brother from the grave
For he raised my spirit from the pit
for He raised our voices all to claim
"He's our risen Lord, our closest friend".
