A tribute to all those game shows out there! Fast-moving, like an oldie, but a bit harder in rock. (REDONE 10/5/01) (Time 2:58)
Special thanks to: Joe Garagiola, Art James, Jim MacKrell, the late Art Fleming, Alex Trebek, Hugh Downs, Jack Narz, Geoff Edwards, Chuck Barris, Jim Perry, the late Bill Cullen, the late Gene Rayburn, Wink Martindale, Peter Marshall, John Davidson, Regis Philbin, the late Allen Ludden, the late Richard Dawson, the late Ray Combs, Louie Anderson, Bob Barker, Monty Hall, and even Anne Robinson, who hosted (or still host) the great game shows listed in this song.
I still remember all those game shows
I used to watch on the TV
Joe Garagiola and his "Memory Game",
"Who, What, and Where", and "Celebrity Sweeps".
I watched "Jeopardy" with Art Fleming,
And I still watch it now with Alex Trebek
And "Concentration" with it's several
different hosts;
The game's the same, so what the heck.
There was "Jackpot" and "Gong Show",
"Card Sharks" and "Break the Bank".
Gene Rayburn and his panel of comic pals
on Match Game (Oh - "blank")
I used to watch the syndicated "Tic Tac Dough",
And even better was the "Hollywood Squares";
My favorite line: "why do doctors keep
raising their fees,"
George Gobel said "Mercedes raises theirs!"
Come on!
When they asked "Who wants to be a millionaire"?
I raised by hand in a heartbeat.
But when I called up the show, the line was busy,
So forget about the hot seat!
I'm just a game show couch potato.
I play along every chance I get.
And if I had easy access to Web TV
I could play on the Internet!
I used to play "Password" with all my friends,
And a few rounds of "Family Feud".
I'd goof on shows like the "Price is Right"
and "Let's Make a Deal"
They call me the "game show dude!"
I'd answer half the questions right
on the "Weakest Link"
And watch half the losers cry.
I'm still waitin' for the day
they're gonna tell me, too:
You are the weakest link - goodbye!
Good-bye!
