A pop tune with an unusual bass hook.
This song was written to be simple to play so I could sing it in a band. This version is more rhythmicly complicated then it was then. The tune is loosly based on a passage from "The Firebird Suite."
No red Firebird,
Beat up Chevy near the curb.
If I had the words,
None of that would matter to you.
Sometimes you laugh just like a clown.
I need to hear it when I'm being down.
'Cause I love you anyway.
To make to you laugh is just my way,
Of saying what I'd never say.
Sweet faces in my mind,
They turn away and seem unkind.
Can't get inside their heads,
I'd better make'em laugh instead.
Sometimes you laugh just like a clown.
I need to hear it when I'm being down.
'Cause I love you anyway.
To make make you laugh is just my way,
Of saying what I'd never say.
Anyway,
To make you laugh is just my way'
Of saying what I'd never say.
