RDunlap & Dan Bartlett: psychedelic space-noodles and proto post-rock.
was an instrumental proto-Post-Rock duo/sometimes trio that recorded in the late 80’s, exploring ambient (old style) and experimental textures with a trippy esthetic and an artistic attitude. One member passed away, and most of the songs were completed by Richard Dunlap in the mid 90’s. The core members of were Richard Dunlap and Dan Bartlett, with occasional guest members Steve Ferrell (guitar, bass) and Frank Dunlap (sax, sampler).

Lyrics
This is a composite of 2 originally unrelated recordings from 1987: 1. a noodling rhythm track of sorts that never got developed further 2. a spoken word project that Dan schemed up, which also never got beyond the initial stage. I read short passages from various books in Dan's library, recorded to 4-track in some sort of overlapping arbitrary arrangement. I don't recall for sure all the books we quoted, but I believe that among them were "The Razor's Edge" by W. Somerset Maugham, one of the Carlos Castaneda books, and I think something by Camus or Sartre (or both?). In 1996 I combined these 2 elements, also remixing the spoken word tracks (copying, looping, overlapping further). In 2005 I remixed the remix, introducing another layer of the same material with altered pitch.
