RDunlap & Dan Bartlett: psychedelic space-noodles and proto post-rock.
was an instrumental proto-Post-Rock duo/sometimes trio that recorded in the late 80’s, exploring ambient (old style) and experimental textures with a trippy esthetic and an artistic attitude. One member passed away, and most of the songs were completed by Richard Dunlap in the mid 90’s. The core members of were Richard Dunlap and Dan Bartlett, with occasional guest members Steve Ferrell (guitar, bass) and Frank Dunlap (sax, sampler).

Story behind the song
In 1987 we recorded a 40-minute jam session in 2 passes to 4-track cassette. Dan and I both played various acoustic and electronic percussion and synths and samplers (Dan played all the analog synth and the main "theme" melody on sampler, I did a lot of live sampling/Echoplex tape loop interaction). In 1993 I split this beast into 2 parts, remixed them and added more digital sounds (mostly percussion). This version from 2005 was remixed a bit more and edited down to 10 min from it's original 14 min length.
Lyrics
About the title: Zeno was a Greek philosopher in the 5th century B.C. who felt he had a paradox when he considered that before one can get from point a to point b, one has to get half way there. Before one can get halfway, one has to go a quarter of the way. This can go on forever, space being infinitely divisible, and it would seem to take an eternity to move from one point to another. Since we do in fact seem to get from here to there, Zeno concluded that reality was an illusion.
