Praise and Thanksgiving from Mary's perspective on Jesus' birth.
I was riding on a train when these words came flooding over me, compelling me to write them down. I was surprised by them since I haven't got an unusual Marian devotion. The words came easily, though, with little editing and Ron Zabrocki just as quickly played the simple music that accompanies the lyric. This song is a asong of praise and thanksgiving as we would imagine Mary singing after the birth of Jesus.
A Promise Kept
Now my time has finally come
This moment of new life
I thank you for this child, Lord
He is favored in your sight.
So have I been favored, too
To bear your holy son
A promise kept from ancient days
The Messiah now is born.
*And I sing a song of glory, Lord
Proclaim for all to see
Raised up in my lowliness
You have done great things for me!
I magnify your holy name
Exalt you, mighty Lord
On my knees beside the manger, now
My God, your will is done.
And I sing a song of glory, Lord
Proclaim for all to see
Raised up in my lowliness
You have done great things for me!*
The living world forever changed
By this perfect holy child
From eternity, the Savior came
As God stepped into time.*
