song number 7 for f.a.w.m. this starts out with claw hammer style banjo. it's my first claw hammer tune. there's also mandolin, guitar, penny whistle, tamborine, hand claps, and harmonies.
peaceful, sad, hopeful, lonesome, sometimes edgy, alternative indie rock
Story behind the song
this is the first song that where i've written and recorded the music, before i wrote the lyrics. it started out with me fooling around on the banjo, trying to use some claw hammer teqniques that i learned from Ken Perlman at a claw hammer workshop he taught at the anchorage folk festival a few years ago. The lyrics came from a conversation i had with somebody where we discussed how after 300 billion u.s. dollars spent on the war in Iraq, with countless lost lives, we've ended up building another Iran (check out who they elected). That's freedom for real. they don't want our way of life, they prefer the religion and culture that they have held sacred for thousands of years....and they have voted those in power who have very strong ties with Iran, who have actually been living in Iran in exile. I guess walmart and haliburton may have to wait before they can turn iraq into a retail outlet of american industry. I read a few articles about how the bush administration is trying to spin this into a "victory" to justify the murders and the 300 billion dollars that has forced congress to cut spending on countless programs that have been benefitting americans for years.
Lyrics
George Bush spins round and round and round
and plants our soldiers in the ground
round and round and round and round
but the truth lies in the burial
George Bush spins round and round and round
plants our children in the ground
round and round and round and round
the truth lies in the burial
This ain't my America
this ain't my America
this ain't my America
the truth lies in the burial
