In Need - composed for anyone who needs to practice the saying, 'I'm in need.'
On January 31, 2005, I thought my upstairs neighbor had committed suicide. I heard the police outside, the guerny on the stairs, family members whispering, etc. I wrote this song to express my feelings. Turns out - I had dreamt it all. The neighbor was never suicidal, never took his life and is still living today with his family. What ELSE in our lives have been only dreams?
In Need
(Verse)
There goes another spirit
Floating in the night
It finally left behind
The one who held on tight
Gazing seamlessly
Hoping we might see
What happens when we run
With our insanity
There walks another spirit
Down a lonesome hall
There goes another child
Who I can never call
Staring back at me
Hoping I might see
That I am face to face
With this insanity
(Chorus)
Just tell me why --
People need to do it
Why--
People walk right to it
Claiming something else
Other than God
to set them free
Just tell me why --
People will not show it
Why--
People need to hold it
The truth about humanity
Is saying "We're in need"
I'm in need....
I'm in need....
(Verse)
Too many false impressions
From a busy day
Is what a "left-over"
Might say to ease the pain
While wiping windows
From their stain
For hidden memories
In the rain
But with friends, tonight,
And God, I will not fall
Those haunting visions
Will not frighten me at all
I will release the dove
Within the spirit's call
And know tonight
That I am standing tall
(Repeat Chorus x2)
