Story behind the song
This piece was composed in 1984-1985, first inspired mostly by a King Crimson tune called "Sleepless", from their "Tree Of A Perfect Pair" album, which was out in early 1984. The intertwined guitarwork of Robert Fripp & Adrian Belew obsessed me to take my playing to a new level. My efforts at emulating another always mutate, so my tune isn't really like theirs, but I think it has a "Crimsonesque" vibe. I like to soak up the inspiration, but also avoid being derivative. This period was also a bizarre time in my life (well, O.K., just a bit more bizarre than a lot of others!), so the frantic, dark, creeping mystery of it was an appropriate "soundtrack" for the time.....
