Acoustic song performed by Toner as part of his solo project :
'And We Paced Up And Down The Canoe Until The Wood Gave Way And We Fell Into The Lake... It Was Rather Cold And I Would Appreciate A Radiator Or Some Heating Apparatus Of The Sort...'
"In Layman's Terms" is a song all about 'wanting'. A lot of people suffer from 'wanting', whether it be wanting someone, wanting a piece of tiramisu or wanting a new set of lego. The case that usually accompanies wanting something, is the fact that you can't always have what you want. People start obsessing over what they can't have and lose sight of everything else in life, especially in the case of wanting a certain person. This song delves into the feelings of a person who would put that certain person before anything else in the world, despite knowing the fact they can never ever have that certain person.
In all honesty I havn't got a clue what fuelled the lyrics. I have never been in a situation like that, or as extreme as that, but it does happen to some people and I seriously feel for them, because an obsession like that has got to well and truly send life hurtling off the tracks into some manure. I admit I would do a lot of things for say... Jennifer Love Hewitt, but to die for her?? I'd prefer to perform the autopsy on her thank you very much (and look at her knick knacks).
Regards,
Toner.
Dishonest Fable
Are you able to induce any sense of truth tonight?
You tend to shun every conversation that's based on you
You don't think twice
You don't think twice
In my eyes
It's only you
The spotlight doesn't shift for no one
You're center stage
Lead role in the play of my obsession
Every ounce of attention wasted on you
In layman's terms...
I can't stop thinking bout you
Absent of you in this bed for two
I guess I sleep alone tonight
I'll make amends where amen's are meant for
Forbidden woman, don't tempt me twice
Please don't tempt me twice
In this life
I'd die for you
You would not think I think this but I do
Who would dare to rid the world of such perfection?
Every ounce of attention wasted on you
In layman's terms...
I can't stop thinking bout you
