Story behind the song
Ken Hill wrote this song, and when I first heard it, I was amazed! I contacted Ken, and found out that it was unreleased, but that Willie Nelson had it on hold, so I got in line and waited. Eventually, Willie decided not to use it, so I excitedly snatched it up! I hope you enjoy the song.
Lyrics
It was pure chance that I found her, I just stopped by to chat a while. She had an easy way of talkin': an easy line and easy smile. And we sat and talked with cups of tea, and we shot the breeze around. We told each other secrets until the sun went down. There's an English rose in Georgia that I see from time to time. And she's growing cold in the Georgia sun, I can see it in her eyes. And she dreams of other places, circumstances, peace of mind. There's an English rose in Georgia that I see from time to time. Sometimes it's justa quick hello: How ya doin', how's your day? Sometimes it's deep and meaningful, when there's important things to say. And she's lifted up my spirits, sometimes when I've been down. And she can be a sexy thing, but that's none of your business anyhow. CHORUS
