I kept my orginal 'scratch' vocals on the verses, even though that's not my 'real' voice. It sounds a little like Bob Dylan (who I love), but I couldn't quite re-capture the same feel on later takes, so I left it as is.
What Every Man Wants
Verse 1
I want a Corvette in the driveway
That’ll do one eighty-five
I want a pickup truck with a 4-wheel drive
Give me a home out in the county - some horses and a barn
I just want what every man wants
Verse 2
I want to owe no restitution
I want to live like I’m alive
I want to stand up tall till the day I die
Give me an honest reputation and a decent paying job
I just want what every man wants
Chorus
Every man wants to have his own stake in something that he knows is real
Every man wants to have his own piece of something that he can feel
Give me a rhythm from the cradle to the grave
Give me a strength no one can take away
Give me a passion that’s more than touch
Give me somebody I can love
Give me what every man wants
Verse 3
I want to give my name to someone
I can call my pride and joy
I want a sweet baby girl and a tough-as-nails boy
Give me a body I can lean on - a little sweet talk in the dark
I just want what every man wants
Repeat Chorus
Break
Final Chorus
Give me a rhythm from the cradle to the grave
Give me a strength no one can take away
Give me a passion that’s more than touch
Give me somebody I can love
I just want what every man wants
