A song for those in the world who have come to the place where they are essentially fatherless and reach out out to the hand of grace from the only true Father in Heaven
Gerry Peters: This song is a Christian hymn written for Afghan Christians that Neil Sleevi met and bonded with when he was a US soldier in the Afghanistan war. He gave me the lyrics and asked me to cowrite a melody and arrangement that fits the Afghan ethnic style using the Minor scale. My wife, Dianna sang the lead and harmony vocals

Verse 1:
[Am] Our life's a field, we [Em]strive alone,
The [F]battles fierce, we [C]face.
Our [Dm]strength and might, to [Am]dust are blown,
To [E]reach the hand of [Am]grace.
Chorus:
[Am]Though fatherless, not [G]left behind,
As [F]victims wronged, in [C] silent cries.
God's [Dm]perfect peace calms the [Am]storms
In His [E]embrace,
Our [Am]fears erase.
Fatherless, we [E]claim no [Am]more.
Verse 2:
[Am]Our fathers here may [Em]fail to see
The [F]struggles that we [C]fight.
But [Dm]You, O Lord, eter-[Am]nally,
Illu-[E]minate our [Am]night.
Verse 3:
[Am]Your mercy, Lord, has [Em]made us whole,
You [F]saved us from our [C]sins,
Your [Dm]steadfast love has [Am]filled our souls
And [E]brought us hope with-[Am]in.
