A song about turning sixty.
I was feeling a bit freaked out about turning 60, so I wrote this song as a kind of therapeutic release.
Well Jane turned sixty the other day
You know she wears it well
She ain't doing no crochet
Still singing the songs from Godspell
They say that sixty is the new forty
If that's what you believe
To me it's not so hunky dory
That's a small comfort for me
Turning Sixty - that's okay
Turning Sixty - just another day
Turning Sixty - I'm here to say
That I'm Turning Sixty on my next birthday
Achy bones and greying hair
It's just a part of life
Often times it don't seem fair
Workin' harder just to survive
I'm moving just a little slower
But at least I'm still on the move
You know it's a real mind blower
When time gives you an attitude
Turning Sixty - that's okay
Turning Sixty - just another day
Turning Sixty - I'm here to say
That I'm Turning Sixty on my next birthday
Turning Sixty - oy vey
Turning Sixty - no other way
Turning Sixty - I'm here to say
I'm Turning Sixty on my next birthday
I'll still be around for a while
By the grace of God
Nothin' left to do but smile
And be thankful for what you got
I've done a lot in my life
With only a few regrets
If you'd like some of my advice
Live your life without a safety net
Listen to your favorite tunes
Call an old friend just to chat
If you have to, eat some prunes
And be kind to your seven cats
Turning Sixty - that's okay
Turning Sixty - just another day
Turning Sixty - I'm here to say
That I'm Turning Sixty on my next birthday
Turning Sixty (yes I am)
Turning Sixty (no turning back)
Turning Sixty
I'm Turning Sixty on my next birthday
Happy Birthday to me
Happy Birthday to me
Happy Birthday to me
And many more.
