An anthem for anyone 50 or over.
Inspired by Helen Reddy's anthem "I am Woman." I wrote an anthem for the senior citizens of the world
Call Me a Senior Citizen
Words and Music 2022 Steve Bryant
(Verse)
Theres not much I havent done,
And nothing much that I cant do.
Ill take on any challenge,
And always see it through.
My years have brought me wisdom,
God and common sense kept me alive.
Theres so much more I can do.
Ive got the time and still have the drive.
(Chorus)
Call me a senior citizen.
Im better than I was yesterday.
I know what works and what wont.
Its high time I had my say.
Call me a senior citizen,
Advertisers say I dont exist.
So many battles I have won,
Almost too many to list.
(Verse)
I can drive an 18-wheeler,
Write a song that will make you cry.
I can still turn a pretty ladys head,
I dont even have to try.
I can build a bookshelf or a house,
Fix almost anything that breaks,
Im not afraid to try new things,
And learn from my mistakes.
(Repeat Chorus)
(Verse)
I can cook you a gourmet meal,
Tell a story where the good guys still win.
Get along with you if we disagree,
Walk away with a handshake and grin.
Ill lend you a helping hand,
Like I did when I was young.
Dont treat me like my life is over,
Im telling you its just begun
(Repeat Chorus)
