a sort of rock-folk boogie with flute break
Like a lot of my songs, the lyrics begin with a real event (the Hurtigruten ship we were on headed out into a storm) then develop more allegorically. Not too allegorical in this case, though. It occurs to me that the chorus could be interpreted as referring to faith in a strong political leader or divine figure - that is definitely wrong! In this case it refers directly to our ship's captain who got us into safe harbour before the worst of the storm storm hit... (unlike the captain of the nearby Viking cruise ship that was caught out and left wallowing dangerously).
Into the Storm
You're running into the storm
Better batten down the hatches
But don't get forlorn
Your captain knows just where the catch is
Will you meet it head on or just slip away?
You have to trust his judgement and just do as he says
The sea is rising you feel the swell
Things are looking tricky far as you can tell
The wind is whipping, shredding your sails
You're thinking maybe time for turning tail
You got adrenalin pumping through
Getting prepared for what you've got to do
Fight or flight, you're ready to go
It feels that time itself is running slow
Comes the moment make or break
Have you taken all you can take
Take a stand or run away
Survive to fight again another day
