Story behind the song
This song is about Bill Stokes my wife's grandpa. He came to Calgary Alberta in 1900 at the age of 13 to work on the railroad. He road the rails for almost 50 years. I met him once in Calgary when he was 89. Still loved his beer and had many stories to share. After he passed I wrote this song about him with the help of stories from my wife Teri's Mom Joan Key.
