Story behind the song
Every so often I write a song titled after one of my grandchildren. As I was practicing music with my grandson, Elisha, one-year old Mercy standing at my feet, stared up into my eyes. So, I stopped the song I was playing and sang to her, "We need mercy, LORD, we need Your mercy." It was the beginning of this song. I know personally how much I need God's mercy. No matter what I do, I can't reach God's standard of perfection. How fortunate for me that mercy is one of His greatest qualities.
