A song about choices... and sea gulls.
I went for a run one day and noticed a singe sea gull over a field. Usually sea gulls will flock around a farmer with his plough, but this one seemed a bit out of place and time.
My mind started to wander around animals and their roles in life and then to people and what the difference really is. We feel very different from animals, but are we really?
A lonely seagull, is circling the deserted field.
His friends said they were feasting here, it was just a week ago.
The farmer, is out ploughing, hes unzipping the goodie bag.
Come along, they said, but he had other plans.
It is not the first time, that I missed out, on a golden chance.
Theres something hidden, why Im always too late?
Could it be, that Im too scared or maybe,
-I dont like to follow the stream?
The Falcon strikes a pigeon, predator and prey.
Its the way of Nature, people say and I guess its true.
Their role is predetermined, it was chosen for them.
They never get to choose, on whos hunting who.
Look at me and you, were supposed to have a choice.
Were not animals, we have our own free will.
But, then look at the options - are we truly free to choose?
Is every road available, or are there stop signs too?
A lonely seagull, is circling the deserted field.
His friends said they were feasting here, it was just a week ago.
It is not the first time, that I missed out, on a golden chance.
Theres something hidden, why Im always too late?
Could it be, that Im too scared or maybe,
-I dont like to follow the stream?
