DePotorLand, a band I play, in got offered a job playing on February 29th. A band member suggested it'd be fun to have a Leap Year song to play. So, I wrote this song about the joys of an added-on, free, no obligations day. Leap Year Day!
CHORUS:
Leap Year Day, it's a bonus, something extra, an unexpected treat,
A gift from the gods of time,
Jumpin' Jehosaphat has it been four years? Since Leap Year Day
A day to waste, a day to savor, fritter away because we can,Time to use, time to lose, twenty-four hours, there's time to snooze.
It's here, it's not, there it's gone and we're not gonna miss it if we never had it.
We can choose the path, forget to count, send caution to the wind, throw open the gates.
CHORUS
A pleasant surprise, a hidden delight, dive forward, step back,
A free day, there's no cost, no penalty for incorrect usage,
A day you've found can't be lost, take stock but don't stop,
Nobody wait, now is the time, spend it all like you never had it.
CHORUS
Receive the day, no questions asked, plan, don't plan, parcel it out,
Dish it up, deliver the goods, collect a win or call it a draw.
Walk, run, skip, skitter and scatter, across the yard, crawl through the bushes,
Grab the green, coax the red, run the light, and breathe.
CHORUS
