When I writing the lyrics to this song, I didn't even know what to call it. My friend Kris Pugmire said it sounds like the winds of wonder. Originally released on the 2002 album, "Raw Tracks".
This was a fun song to write, as I wanted to tell a story from a broken person's day, and what they do to escape reality, morning, afternoon, and night. I was stumped thinking of the song title when my friend, Kris Pugmire, heard me playing it on my keyboard and suggested "The Winds of Wonder". I was thrilled with his idea, so I tweaked the ending of each verse and that's how the song came to be.
Lyrics written in October 1991; Music written in 1991/1992
(1st Verse)
Every morning I look in the mirror and what do I see?
A reflection of my life and the day that you left me.
I think of the love that we once had, all the good times along with the bad,
and all the times when I was sad knowing you would never come back,
and now I live my life so black... in the winds of wonder.
(2nd Verse)
Every morning I wake up early, go to work and face the day,
to make the money and make ends meet, I live my life this way.
I don't want to live in poverty, there's too many things I want to see.
If I could win the lottery, than I'd be out of misery,
and I would fly forever free... in the winds of wonder
(3rd Verse)
Every evening I go to bed and I'm ready for my dreams,
to enter another world and escape reality.
I'm taking off to Never Ever Land. Me and a friend go hand in hand.
Together we will be so grand, and all alone we lay in the sand,
and in the distance we hear a band... through the winds of wonder.
