This was the original idea behind "The Head's the Best Part", recorded by the band, fred, in 1973 and published on the album, Notes on a Picnic. The lead guitar voice is from the Eastman John Pisano.

Story behind the song
When performed by fred, the melody was played in close harmony by guitar and violin. I've eliminated the extended solos played, including the guitar solo which was played in 4/4 on a suggestion from Pete Eggers. I had never recorded it solo, and wanted to try it as the simple, pop jazzrock waltz it first was...hence, the title.
