Story behind the song
This is the title track off our first full-length studio album. "The Fallen Ones" is about the corruption of each of us, as we go through life, just trying to find our way.
Lyrics
THE FALLEN ONES They fall from the sky like lost angels. They're drifting, crying to be found. Floating like bubbles, their delicate chill splatter into puddles like tears, like rain on the ground. And where were we? Where were we? In a mirror, falling. Where were we? In a mirror, cracking into mortal pieces, calling for the sweet things we were. We were falling in a mirror, calling, where were we? They fall like dust to misplaced corners. They crumble like yesterday's roses. Blushing to the touch, their hands full of thorns that didn't much protect them from you, from me. And where were we? CHORUS We took them, the sweet things, the darlings with halos, de-flowered, de-winged them, then asked them to sing. The angels are weeping from songs they've forgotten. The lost ones are dying from songs we've taught them. CHORUS (Spoken: In a mirror of rain of tears, on the ground calling, "Where were we?" Deliver me, angel, from the ground, crawling in your tears ....)
