From the mind of an 11 year old. Read the song story for more information.
A co-worker's eleven year old daughter hand wrote a flute part that she wrote out on paper. Her mom showed me the music and asked if she had written everything out correctly. I looked it over and let her know that "Yes, she seems to have done this correctly with very, very few errors."
I remember writing some pieces out when I was a child and started playing the piano. I also remember a family friend who happened to be a music professor at a college in Pennsylvania found my pieces and played them for me. That is a very thrilling feeling for a child to hear someone else's interpretation of their music.
With a little bit of effort I did something similar for Isabel and scored her flute piece into a symphonic piece. When I had the first quarter of this piece finished I gave a rough mix to Isabel's mom to take to her and listen to.
Isabel's mom said that Isabel was so thrilled that she was on "Cloud 900 danced in circles ."
The importance of instilling the need for music in young children seems to be fading in our society today. Keeping musical interest alive and well is far more important than some people may think.
Isabel has some very interesting phrasing with her writing. I certainly hope that my interpretation of Isabel's wonderful piece of music will be enough for her to have a life-long love for music. Although I may not have followed all of score exactly (number of flute rests), I think this is a wonderful piece.
