Paradise lies beyond the big dark sea - or does it?
The sea can be many things. It can be a phsyical thing, that represents a barrier between you and the places you dream about visiting. But it can also be something in your mind, blocking you from doing what you really want to do. Either you try to defy the treacherous waters or you must wave goodbye to your dreams.
I wish that I could sail to California
and land on some forgotten beach one day
I heard so much about you, California
But I'm stuck here and you're so far away
I wish that I could swim to Nova Scotia
They say the land is beautiful up there
I'd watch the scenery at Baxter's Harbour
But I don't think I'll ever make it there
It's that big, dark sea that hides my dreams from me
In my mind I stare, at the distant shores out there
And I long to see, what's beyond the sea,
Must I wave goodbye, to the waves rolling by?
I wish I could defy the stormy waters
and anchor in your harbour's friendly arms
But there's a current, changing my direction
and of course it always knocks me off my course.
It's that big, dark sea that hides my dreams from me
In my mind I stare at the distant shores out there
And I long to see, what's beyond the sea,
Must I wave goodbye, to the waves rolling by?
