This is not a normal "love song". It's about a relationship that I once had and how I realized that I didn't really know what I was getting into. I realized that love has got to be more than simply a blind force or it won't work.
I thought I heard her voice,
So I turned around;
I was all alone.
I guess I lost myself,
In the growing trees,
All painted brown and green.
And I don’t know what love is,
And I don’t know who I am,
But days like these I’d love to find out,
And I’d love to be her man.
Listening for whispers in the darkness,
Anything resembling a laugh,
Some sort of wishful conformation,
That you don’t think I’m insane.
I thought I saw her smile
At the joke I told,
Was she just being polite?
How can I love her
When I don’t like myself?
When I mostly feel alone.
I’m gonna fell the test
On reality
I can’t be her only love
I can’t be her only love
And I don’t know what love is,
And I don’t know who I am,
But days like these I’d love to find out,
And I’d love to be her man.
Listening for whispers in the darkness,
Anything resembling a laugh,
Some sort of wishful conformation,
That you don’t think I’m insane,
You don’t think I’m insane,
Do you think I’ve gone insane?
‘Cause I think I’ve gone insane.
