This is the band page for a musical I wrote called "Children and Parents".
The play was intended to be performed by children and adults with the main theme exp
The parents realize their children are missing and search for them. Charley's mom (Mrs. Jones) finds the note the children left at the clubhouse. Her reading of the note is the third song of the musical.
Lyrics
[Mrs. Jones] You had me in your arms
You pushed me away
You didn't have the time
What could I say?
Someday when I'm gone
So far, far away
Then you'll realize
The way I felt today
Chorus:
(Mrs. Jones) It's a lesson of the heart
A lesson well learned
A lesson of the heart
You got a little burned
You never will forget
The things you learn today
This lesson of the heart
A price you pay
This lesson of the heart
A price you pay
(Mrs. Jones) I only needed love
(Other Parents) [We gave them love]
(Mrs. Jones) I only wanted you
(Other Parents) [We want them, too]
(Mrs. Jones) Was that so much to ask?
What could I do?
(Mrs. Jones) I tried so hard to please
(Other Parents) [They tried so hard]
(Mrs. Jones) I did the best I could
(Other Parents) [They always would]
(Mrs. Jones) But nothing that I tried
Did me any good
Chorus
(Everyone)
