Story behind the song
When I first heard Mike's "Round Midnight" I knew I wanted to work with him sometime. I was working on a new song that was meant to be stereotypical of the old 1970's cop show themes (a genre I love to this day) and asked him to sit in on it via the net. The thing I like about Mike's playing is he isn't just speed, or flash. He says something in his solo's, and the one he did for this song was no exception. He took the song in a totally different direction, and gave me something to feed off of for the rest of the song. To me that's a true collab, when two different musicians can make a mixture of their styles instead of being two seperate musicians. Poor Mike, I work very slowly, and am kind of anal about details, so this one took a while to finish. But I am really happy about how this one turned out. The important thing though is even though I took it seriously, it was meant to be a fun, high energy song, bringing back memories if a white striped torino doing 180's in the middle of the road, swat teams flowing out of black baker's trucks, detectives in bell bottoms and lesure suits, and action action action! So play this one loud, don't take it too seriously, and remember the seventies! Mike's other music is at www.soundclick.com/mikemilillo
