Story behind the song
My dear friend Jake Stub and his family live in Ojai CA. I live near L.A., well 40 miles south of L.A. and subsequently we didn't see much of each others families as they grew, and it was only recently that I had the pleasure of meeting his two daughters, Isabel and Aleta, who I just fell in love with. It occurred to me that I had missed a majority of their lives to date, which really bums me out profoundly. Isabel just graduated from high school, and I wanted to do something for her so she would know she was special, and this is it. I hope it succeeds and she knows how special she is...
Lyrics
Wishing Well, for Isabel To Celebrate her graduation; A song for Isabel Stub Music and Lyrics by: Ron Rentz Verse 1 After eighteen years you feel it’s time that your on your own Step out of your comfort zone, to show all the world you’ve grown The time will come too soon to say all your sad goodbyes Time to separate truth from lies, no excuses or alibis Chorus Well it seems to me you make this world a better place I love how you embrace it It’s reality let’s just face it And it seems to me you make this place a better world Clearly you’re Jake and Sandy’s girl The world’s an oyster and you’re a pearl Verse 2 As you set out on your journey, try your best to avoid extremes Steer clear of dramatic themes, and take care you don’t lose your dreams Let reality be reality and just let it flow Wherever it wants to go, don’t get caught in the undertow Chorus Well it seems to me you make this world a better place I love how you embrace it It’s reality let’s just face it And it seems to me you make this place a better world Clearly you’re Jake and Sandy’s girl The world’s an oyster and you’re a pearl Bridge In this journey it doesn’t matter where you start And it’s not so all important where you end When I think about the things I’ve done All the battles lost and the battles won All that matters is the journey my friend Verse #3 You must stand up and be heard if you have a song to sing It’s the gift only you can bring, like a conscious awakening You can’t stand by and be quiet when something you know is wrong The world needs to hear your song, don’t be shocked if they sing along Verse #4 You must try to seize the moment, or moments just slip away This is something you can’t delay, take time love and laugh today And don’t take today for granted, or it will be will be gone so fast In fact when tomorrow comes, your today’s just a thing of the past. Chorus Well it seems to me you make this world a better place I love how you embrace it It’s reality let’s just face it And it seems to me you make this place a better world Clearly you’re Jake and Sandy’s girl The world’s an oyster and you’re a pearl Chorus Well it seems to me you make this world a better place I love how you embrace it It’s reality let’s just face it And it seems to me you make this place a better world Clearly you’re Jake and Sandy’s girl The world’s an oyster and you’re the pearl Copyright 2013
