Kind of a folksy cross between Elvis and Roy Orbison ( not intentionally) with some profoundly heavy lyrics
I'm not sure what was going through my mind when I was writing this, it just came out. Very melodic, kind of a cross between Elvis and Roy Orbison, but not intentionally. I think you'll really like this, the lyrics are strong, so give a listen and let me know what you think...
Darkness and Light
By: Ron Rentz
Verse 1
When the pain that you feel, gets too hard to express
You don’t cry anymore, but you don’t cry any less
When your too tired to fight it
All the guilt and the shame
All the years couldn’t right it
You’ve got no one to blame
Locked up in your room you feel safe and secure
Laying there at the beside, you reach for your cure
You can drink it, or smoke it
or swallow it whole.
Doesn’t matter what broke it
Your killing your soul
Chorus
You can cry tears of sadness or cry tears of joy
But at the end of the day you’re still crying
And how can you build what you seek to destroy?
If in the name of the truth, you’ve been lying
Why are people so serious, if life is a game?
How can people at war say they fight the good fight?
That’s why wanting it and having it aren’t really the same
Without the darkness what good is the light?
Verse 2
Today is no different, the sick cycle’s insane
When you open your eyes, you start killing the pain
Your afraid to look back
Fearing what you’d reveal
If your armor should crack
You just might have to feel
Your mind says it’s safer if you just stay numb
Your unprepared for those feelings, your afraid what may come
If you don’t face them someday
You will never get well
Tell yourself you will one day
’til then your living in hell
Chorus
You can cry tears of sadness or cry tears of joy
But at the end of the day you’re still crying
And how can you build what you seek to destroy?
If in the name of the truth you’ve been lying?
Why are people so serious, if life is a game
How can people at war, say they fight the good fight?
That’s why wanting it and having it aren’t really the same?
Without the darkness what good is the light?
Verse 3
When the things that you loved become the things that you hate
All your hopes and your dreams, you have made them all wait
And the people you cared for
And who cared about you
A life you never prepared for
Well it isn’t near through
You can’t change what’s behind you, or what lies ahead
Try and focus yourself on what lies inside you instead
Don’t get hung up in the whys
For time truly forgives
And while everyman dies
It’s more important how he lives
