Story behind the song
Sitting on the couch of my girlfriend at the time, I was clutching my knees to my chest and trying to figure out why I wanted to be anywhere but there. She asked me what I was doing and I responded, "Leave me alone; I'm in my ball of discontent."
She was not pleased when I shouted, "Ball of Discontent!" and bolted out the door to go to the theater and write the song.
