with about 20 years of age I read books about the clash of first nations with the white men. One story is still in my memory: a governer wrote a letter from the new states of England to his majesty the king of England. After having learned to survive with the help of the first nation tribes, he was pleased about having given blankets to the local tribes, that were contaminated with pox. The outcome that pleased him so much was, that the first nation people were dying like flies and so the white settlers gained land....
The white man is a generous man, he brought ‘em civilisation
He offered ‘em all his richdom, took kindley their barbarous land then
The white man founded reservations, to give ‘em a home in desperation
To keep those stinky indians away from his pure white children
They took away the winds – They took away their wings
They took away the air to fly – They took away the water
They took away the land – Didn`t leave ‘em place to die
The white man offered ‘em diseases, taught ‘em to die hungry or to freeze
He offered all of his wisdom, cannonballs, firewater, dollars and walls
The white man built up schools,
To adjust red children into his white man‘s rules
He helps ‘em to forget their past, taughts ‘em that only the white man lasts
They took away the power – They took away the pride
Drowned them in a sea of lies – They took away the colours
They took away their smiles – Didn’t leave ‘em tears to cry
The white man is a cancerous man, which spreads his sperm over every land
And I am, I‘m a white man, too, ashamed but hopeful, broken in two
The white man bears war in his heart and holds peace closed in his fists
The red man keeps peace in his heart and reaches out for a common start
The red man has been struck, deprived, betrayed, but whatever we did
It becomes true, what the red man said
Let it into your heart, let it into your head
What the red man said
Straight into your core, straight into your thoughts
What the red man said
