Story behind the song
Although Thomas Edison invented the motion picture projector in the 1800s, it took quite a while before the technology was adapted to allow the motion picture industry to be created. Marcus Lowe was the owner of the largest chain of theaters in the country.
Lyrics
1st verse: Hurry up, hurry up, buy your ticket now Hurry up, hurry up, better come somehow Ev'rybody's going, all tip-toeing, To the picture show Come along, come along, with a smiling face Come along, come along, to the happy place Where the picture reelers, fun revealers A-flickering go Chorus: At the picture show, At the picture show Come and see the villain gay Steal the hero's girl away Or ponies racing Just see them chasing At the picture show, owned by Marcus Lowe Come on, you're just in time To see the latest crime All for a single dime At the picture show
