Story behind the song
As I told a lot of my friends earlier, I was about 16 when I heard about the Wacken Festival for the first time. Ever since that my goal was to learn how to play, how to record, compose the best music I can, how to distribute it, get a band together, tour it, and to play my music as a main event on the Wacken Main Stage in front of thousands of people. This is an uncommon dream I think. Nevertheless, I just passed my 10th year anniversary pursuing this dream, and by Rampage of Kronos I will have the chance to take a look back at these year's achievements. This song is the last one this year I'm going to publish, but earlier this year I started to write probably the most refined pieces of music I possibly can. Kronos was actually written before Rusty Springs and Shattered Satellites. When I sat down to the DAW I only had one goal: to write and record the best possible material what I can. I literally decided that I don't get up until the actual song is perfect. Almost immediately (in a few weeks) I came up with three songs (and with Rusty and Shattered a bit later), which was going to be the end of this year's work for me. This sci-fi story will end in a 3-piece EP which I'd call Escape Solaris - and the first part is Rampage of Kronos. It is about a Titan (a greek mythological character, who is partially responsible for the birth of Zeus), who furiously crushes everyone in his way (eating even his children), just to bring a Golden Age for humanity through violence. And so he does, for a time being. Also, since the Escape Solaris trilogy is about the escape from planet Earth, followed by it's (self) destruction, this rampage is literally the revenge of nature (or Gods) on us, humans. Since I won't have either the space nor other video description to tell this in 2011, this month is also the first year anniversary that I started to publish my music. The first song I made a video for was The Inevitable (One Step Closer), and I'd really suggest you check it out. It took a year to be able to live up to this level - I started from there. My friend Matthew Hekker played the drums once again. Check out the stuff he does, I never worked with such a professional before (Echo Mirage), that's for sure. As it was mentioned in a comment, a good drummer makes all the difference - and I have to say he has a BIG part on bringing the song alive. I'm really proud to be able to play with you, man :) So one year passed. This year I settled in France, wrote 16 songs, published 17 videos (with 2 covers) including the 3 videos with Cobus Potgieter, I got endorsed by Prolude Amplification, I got about 33.000+ individual views on youtube just on my own songs, I wrote music for children's tales, I recorded an album with Mystery Blue, I paid about 5000€ and earned $4, and I didn't give up my musical direction in order to commercialise :) I'm closer to the goal of playing on Wacken I think than I was last time. I'm truly grateful for everyone's help this year. Let me thank to all those musicians I have work with: Matthew Hekker, Phil Ira, Robert Fueloep, Happy Psylosis, Cobus Potgieter, my good-old friend Tamas Antal, Sexy, Mystery Blue, Uwe Lulis - pretty much those who kept the spirit in me to continue the Minotaur Project. Also I'm really happy that there are people who like and understand what I create, and why I create it. I'll try to be bigger next year :)
