So, the story of Rusty Springs goes way back to 1994, when Electronic Arts published the first Need for Speed. I was in love with it, I guess I still do. One of the tracks was called Rusty Springs, and I was influenced by it's name as well. Back then as I tried to find a way to channel the constant creativity inside me, I wrote a short novel about a detective called Harris Cluedo, who happens to die in a fatal crash, in his newly-bought red car while being chased by some other yellow car, on the (surprise!) Rusty Springs circuit. If something, this was the main influence on this video.
Then music came and the games on my PC became less interesting, so I forgot about it for a while, but recently I ran into my novel by accident, and it was... well, inspiring in a certain way, hence this video.
In fact I always wanted to do something like this little film - I always dreamed of making videoclips and background music for games, I just never had the financial background to do the video properly.
Well, a couple of weeks ago I ran into the new Trackmania (Canyon) beta, and I wanted it, just as bad as I wanted to succeed at my old games back then. Almost as soon as I bought it, I figured that I could export the replays, and actually it's replay recording system is really-really versatile, so I started to create a story-like series of short clips. I don't even remember when was the last time I played so much, and with this game I really had the good-old FUN :)
While the Escape Solaris EP is being made (sorry for the delay, it's harder to organize an EP with guest musicians than I expected - not everybody as motivated as I am :D), I decided to make something to make the wait worthwhile, I hope you enjoy.
