There’s one thing we’ve overlooked
On which everything depends
For the question now remains
Can lovers still be friends?
** I lost a friend **
Wasting a day that’s frittered away
And gone like the dust in a storm
Try as you may to salvage the day
It still makes the strange seem norm
Now we’re one and we reach for the sky
But what obsessed us, what possessed us
To think that we could ever, live this lie
When we look back, why did we pretend
We-were, no more than sister and brother?
It-took only one kiss, and I lost a friend
But when I looked in your eyes, I found a lover
Try as I may the thought of the day
Has wandered so far from home
Hearts that are stealing, pure and appealing
Captured and free to roam
We’re drifting souls like passing ships in the night
Keeping time and making rhyme
Until we feel the warmth of sunlight
[bridge]
There’s one thing we’ve overlooked
On which everything depends
For the question now remains
Can lovers still be friends?
Let’s fill our pockets with the past and move on
Then is now and now is then
Time to be, born again
