(Back at home)
(The poor baby crow is very ill).
Mamma
Tell me Ananya, when we find that we need a Bigger help to cross a bridge, what must we do?
Ananya, (quickly).
We must pray to Mamma Goddess.
Spottu, (nudging Tobee, whispering)
Who is Mamma Goddess? Hey! Tobee tell me who is Mamma Goddess”?
(Tobee is silent).
Do you know who is Mamma Goddess?
Mamma
Spottu, what is the matter, what is it you want to know?
Tobee
Mamma, he is asking me who is Mamma Goddess.
Mamma
Everyone, come close. Now listen to this - I’ll tell you who Mamma Goddess is. Everybody, close your eyes.
(All close their eyes. Then Spottu opens half an eye and nudges Tobee again).
Spottu
Tobee!
Mamma picks up Spottu, and puts him on her lap. (Ananya Lakshmi pulls herself closer to Mamma).
Mamma
Now everybody! No talking! Close your eyes again.
Spottu, (whimpering).
Mamma it’s all dark!
Mamma
Shhhhh! Spottu, just be quiet and listen to me.
Hold your hands close to your heart.
(Spottu puts his hand on his stomach)
Here! (helps Spottu put his hand on his heart)
Just sit quietly for a moment.
(Everything in the room is silent) and then
Mamma, (in a soft voice).
Dear Mamma Goddess, our friend is suffering. He has a broken arm. Please bring Dr Do-Magic to help him.
The door opens, and in steps Dr. Do-Magic.
Dr. Do-Magic
Hello. I’m Doctor Do-Magic. I have come to heal the little crow.
Mamma
How did you know he was here?
Dr. Do-Magic
I was told by the forest officer, after he was told by the little crow’s parents.
Mamma
But, how did you find our house?
Dr. Do-Magic
A raccoon family told me. It was amazing, but they knew exactly where you live.
So this is our injured patient? Hmmm.
(Takes temperature, feels pulse, listens to heartbeat with stethoscope. Gives a pill, which is placed in beak of young crow. Carefully bandages wing.)
Mamma
